Karlsruhe celebrates – and we will be there

At the end of summer, Karlsruhe traditionally dresses up again on the second weekend of October: the Karlsruher Stadtfest (Karlsruhe City Festival) marks the start of autumn. This year it takes place on Saturday 10 October and Sunday 11 October 2026 across the entire city centre.

Bo Chi Lam Karlsruhe will be there. We want to bring Hung Gar Kung Fu to where the city is celebrating: onto the squares, between live music, street art and the family programme. If you want to meet us, try a class, or simply say hello – this weekend is the moment.

Admission to the festival is free.

The best way to arrive is by public transport or bicycle. The underground stops Marktplatz, Kronenplatz, Ettlinger Tor and Europaplatz/Postgalerie sit right next to the event areas.

What the festival offers

Two days of autumn atmosphere in the Fan-shaped City:

• Live music and food around Marktplatz
• International street art along Kaiserstraße and the radiating side streets
• Children’s and family programme at Kirchplatz St. Stephan and Schlossplatz, including an information mile
• Gourmet festival by POSTGALERIE on Stephanplatz
• Shopping Sunday on 11 October
• Flea market “4. Kronentrödel” on Kronenplatz on 11 October

There are also stage and hands-on programmes on Kronenplatz and events in the neighbourhoods. It is loud, colourful and full of encounters – the right setting to make martial arts visible.

Why we are there

Hung Gar is not only a stage performance. It is body, breath, tradition and community. At the city festival we meet people who know Kung Fu only from films – and people who have been looking for a club in Karlsruhe for a long time.

We want to:

• show that traditional Kung Fu is practised in the heart of Karlsruhe
• talk with the curious, with families, and with other athletes
• invite you to visit our training: beginners are explicitly welcome

Whether you are already a member or seeing us for the first time: come by, ask questions, stay a while. Kung Fu often starts with a conversation on the street.

Practical tips for your visit

• Most of the programme takes place outdoors. Light rain usually does not stop it; in severe weather some items may be cancelled.
• Public toilets (including accessible ones) are available on Marktplatz and Schlossplatz.
• A first-aid station (“SOS island”) is in Karl-Friedrich-Straße between Marktplatz and Schlossplatz.
• An awareness team is on site if you need support.
